K-Lite™ Lightweight Kerb

Health and Safety is a Key consideration of Aggregate Industries with a number of devisions actively developing lighter weight produckts. Charcon, the hard landscaping devision of Aggregate Industries, is committed to continual product development to improve the use, environmental acceptability and practice of its products.

Charcon's lightweight range

Charcon's K-Iite'" kerb has been developed to
meet the requirements of the HSE guidelines
in situations where safety audits and risk
assessments have been carried out and
mechanical handling is found not to be a viable
option.

Such situations might include instances where
mechanical handling would severely impede
traffic movement and the closure of a road,
to accommodate lifting machinery, might
put drivers or pedestrians at risk. This might
apply to spot maintenance, term contracts,
or minor repairs. Similarly, if the road surface
is not level, the use of a mechanical lifter might
be hazardous. The use of mechanical handling
equipment can also add significant costs in
some situations, making it financially unfeasible
to employ for a very short run involving a few
kerbs or a small repair project.

Charcon's K-Iite™ kerb weighs a nominal 20kg, while meeting the same rigorous performance standards as a standard weight kerb.

Additional benefits

In addition to the significant weight reduction for the same
meterage, Charcon's K-Iite TM kerb:

  • Maintains the finished kerb profile and line
  • Is easier to handle and knock down to level
  • Reduces pack weights to less than one tonne
  • Reduces haulage -more products per load
  • Keys more effectively, creating a monolithic structure

The half-length kerb also reduces the need for some radius units

Product Range
Charcon's lightweight kerb range is available in half-batter, bull-nose and splay profiles. Lightwieght accessories, such as droppers and crossing units, are also available to minimise the risks associated with manual handling
